Swingin' Denver showcase a continuum of Black social dance emerging during the Harlem Renaissance and practiced to this day in the originating community and worldwide.
“Magnificat” features the 18th-century settings of the Magnificat by Telemann, Zelenka, and Bach. This production, using historical performance practice, will illustrate how the composers’ individual interpretations of a single text resulted in works with dramatically different stylistic qualities. The concert showcases Seicento Baroque Ensemble’s talented group of singers, along with featured vocal soloists and an orchestra of period instruments, and is a “must-see” for lovers of Baroque music.
